Gailey Photos
Tony, Kath, Sarah, Beth, Lizzie, Shobhanaa & Mick did Gailey. I'm not sure why, it hasn't improved since I last did it. In fact it hasn't improved since I first did it over 30 years ago!

Maybe you only don't enjoy the race because you aren't used to training on a canal. I find that racing on different types of water is what keeps it interesting! Gailey certainly tests peoples stability.
We do train on the canal when the weather is bad! However, when you're as heavy as me, dragging the bottom along for 8 miles comes in second place to deep water every day. I think the narrow boat traffic makes it less pleasant, but like you, I enjoy going to the different clubs & "suffering" their local conditions - let's face it, I wouldn't have kept coming back for over 30 years otherwise. As with all the Midlands clubs, meeting up with old friends or rivals there is part of the appeal too. micken
