Hasler Finals

Despite a fairly small turn out from members, NKC succeeded in coming 9th at the Hasler Finals. With only Tadek, Ziggy & Ozzie racing in the Lightning classes, we also managed 8th place in the Lightning Finals. The significance of this is that it is the first time we have had any Lightnings enter the finals. Let's hope this is a foretaste of what is to come.
In the Senior events, Hayleigh's was the most outstanding individual performance with 2nd in Div 3. Let's not forget that The Hasler Trophy is a team event, so even people who did not race at the finals, but did enter one or more of the qualifying events contributed to our result. Thanks to them and the paddlers who raced on the day.

Tuesday - Clifton

A busy night with lots of people paddling, either the time trial or in Beth C's group or just paddling. The weather was good, warm, sunny & calm.
Tim Brabants raced tonight, powering past every one to do just over 32 minutes. From total beginner to World Champion paddling tonight. What other sports enjoy such a wide span at one club on just another late summer evening?

Interclubs Regatta

Despite a rather thin turnout by only 16 members at the weekend, NKC members produced some good performances. The club was mainly represented by 3 junior girls, 5 women and 5 veterans. Only 1 senior raced & scored points all weekend which is rather disappointing. Well done to Ralph, who managed to get his own entries in on time, after the main ones had been sent. Some people entered late so did not score points, but at least they were there.

The best scoring result came from Shobhanaa and Beth in the Girls D K2 1000 with a 2nd place and a 3rd in the 500m. Ralph also managed a 3rd in Final 1 of the Mens B 500 metres. Pete scored well too with 2nd in Masters C 1000 metres and 3rd in the 500.

A quick mention for Sandra, World Junior Ladies Wild Water Champion, who got 2 excellent K1 results at her first Flat Water regatta, making the 1st Final in the Girls B K1 1000. Sorry no pictures of her, but see the one of her in action at the WWR World Champs. A bit different from the Pond.

Congratulations to Michael on promotion to Boys B although it's a bit academic as he will be senior next year! He gained 1st in the 1000 metres and 2nd in the 500 but scored no points.
Amazingly, out of 41 clubs, we came overall 10th with a score of 379 points. Thanks & well done to all those who contributed to the result.

Clifton

The conditions were good & we had a timekeeper this week! Altogether there were 43 people racing in addition to Beth C's group which was the biggest yet. The club was the busiest as it has been all summer despite some obvious faces missing. Hayleigh is on her way to Hungary for the Worlds!
Shob confirmed her unofficial PB from last week with a slightly slower 44:58 & Beth took nearly 2 minutes off her time with a new PB of 45:26. Simon & Barry also managed new PBs in K1 while Jenny C & Adam did a new K2 PB for them.
